I am 23 years old, in MA and CT. No really, I’m in both states. Not always at the same time - my magical skills aren’t that great yet. I have been suffering from New Daily Persistent Headache (NDPH) for the past 3+ years (my 1st blog entry pretty much covers how I got onto my “Headache Train”). This blog will hopefully be a helpful place for me to keep track of what I’ve been through, tried, etc. and what I’m doing/going through now. I’ve connected with a bunch of great people who also have chronic headaches, so it has been so helpful to talk with one another and share ideas.

I have a bachelor’s degree in English and have a whole bunch of education courses under my belt as well. I just finished off the school year as a special education aide in a middle school (I worked in a few different “Inclusion” classes), and as tough as it can be for me at times with my headache, I really enjoyed the work. The kids constantly put a smile on my face and made me laugh daily.

My headache has held me up in my plan to go right from my undergraduate work to grad school to get my Masters to teach, but I’m slowly on my way.

Why is your blog called “Her Life In A Nutshell…” ?

One of my favorite bands is the Barenaked Ladies, and “Life, In a Nutshell” is a song of the band’s that I love. It’s an ironic title, since there is no way that a person (whether he or she has a chronic illness that engulfs his or her life or not) is able to tell the details of his or her life in “a nutshell”… and gosh darnit, I like irony.

Disclaimer:

It is important to keep in mind that while I hope I can give some insight into the “wonderful” world of NDPH and how I am dealing with it medically/emotionally, any type of treatment or medication that I discuss (whether it has worked for me or not) should never be used without being under the care of a physician. I am not giving medical advice! Please see your health care provider for any specific medical issues.
